Conformal coating, encapsulation and potting

Products are sometimes required to be used in harsh or hostile environments. There are ways of protecting your products and components is by the correct use of conformal coatings, encapsulation and potting.

Conformal coating

Conformal coated is a varnish process for pcb assemblies that helps protect against moisture, thermal extremes and chemical attack. Our use of a coating system with UV trace guarantees the integrity of the seal and this can be applied either by an immersion or selective coating process. We commonly use Humiseal 1B32, an acrylic based substance widely accepted as an industry standard.

 

Potting and encapsulation

 

Potting and encapsulation are used for protecting complete assemblies.
We have several potting processes utilising several materials. These are supported by our in-house impregnation and encapsulation facility complete with a large vacuum chamber which ensures thorough impregnation and out-gassing (removal of gasses).
